Tom Brown's School Days was Gale's first film. She shared the film with veteran actors Jimmy Lydon, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Freddie Bartholomew, and Billy Hallop. The film is based on the classic novel. The story is a look back at the headmaster, Dr. Arnold (portrayed by Sir Cedric Hardwicke). Jimmy Lydon plays the title character, Tom Brown.
